How we use our funds in the community

Discover how funds raised by Rotary Recycles are used by the Rotary Club of the Lower Blue Mountains through diverse projects that uplift, empower, and enrich the lives of those in the Lower Blue Mountains area and beyond.

Fone

Our FONE team brings a friendly smile and diversional support to individuals and their families in the Emergency Department at Nepean Hospital. We provide children with popular activity kits, knitted teddy bears, and books to ease their hospital stay. Additionally, the team distributes used clothing (provided by Rotary Recycles) and toiletry items to patients as needed. A chat with bored or frustrated patients or offering a cup of tea or coffee to relatives is always met with gratitude. By handling simple tasks like recharging mobile phones or refilling hot water bottles, the FONE team, run by the Lower Blue Mountains Rotary Club, offers invaluable support to patients and families during overwhelming and difficult times.

Books in Homes

The Lower Blue Mountains Rotary Club supports four local primary schools through the Books in Homes program, an initiative of the Books in Homes Foundation. This program provides books of choice to children living in remote, disadvantaged, and low socio-economic areas, promoting the development of essential reading skills for lifelong success. Schools nominate students to receive these books, which are supplied by the Lower Blue Mountains Rotary Club.

Glenbrook Flag Precinct

As you ascend the Blue Mountains along the Great Western Highway, just off the main road in Glenbrook, you'll find the Flag Precinct. The Lower Blue Mountains Rotary Club serves as the custodian of this precinct, meticulously adhering to protocols for community observances and maintaining a stock of flags for use as needed.
